Silence and noise
Power Lunches, London, 26th november 2012
An evening of experimental music by: Ain Bailey, Jockel Liess, Harmergeddon, Luca Nasciuti, flies+fliesTypically at these nights the line up is based around one central act with the others chosen to compliment and support it, but at Silence and Noise the idea was a bit different, with no single performance claiming the centre of attention. Common to all was an approach of determined individualism, each giving us a quick glimpse into a practice which was very much their own. This shared philosophy, the intimacy of the venue, a line-up of fresh names, a crowd that you couldn’t really identify as belonging to any particular subculture, all spoke to the vitality of what is happening now in this part of London. This event showed that the experimental fertility oozing through the Dalston music scene is by no means confined to a few oases, but extends also to a younger generation of musicians who are looking to become a part of it, nurture it, and make it their own’.
